আজিজ আহমেদ ২৫ জুন ২০১৮ থেকে ২৪ জুন ২০২১ পর্যন্ত বাংলাদেশ সেনাবাহিনীর প্রধান ছিলেন; এর আগে ২০১২–২০১৬ সময়ে BGB মহাপরিচালক এবং সেনা সদর দপ্তরের quartermaster general ও একজন GOC হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করেন। ২০২৪ সালের মে মাসে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের State Department তাকে significant corruption-এর জন্য publicly designated করে। পরে বাংলাদেশি প্রতিবেদনে বলা হয়, আজিজ এবং তার ভাই হারিস ও তোফায়েল আহমেদের বিরুদ্ধে alleged illegal wealth, money laundering ও procurement-related irregularities নিয়ে দুদক inquiry শুরু করেছে। জানুয়ারি ২০২৬-এর BSS প্রতিবেদনে বলা হয়, সংশ্লিষ্ট inquiry-তে ACC investigation চলছিল এবং তার ভাই আনিসের বিদেশযাত্রায় আদালত নিষেধাজ্ঞা দেয়। আলাদাভাবে BSS ও The Daily Star জানায়, ২০১৩ সালের শাপলা চত্বর অভিযানের সঙ্গে যুক্ত alleged crimes against humanity ICT proceeding-এ আজিজের নাম রয়েছে; The Daily Star পরে জানায়, প্রসিকিউশন Interpol Red Notice-এর জন্য NCB-এর সহায়তা চেয়েছে। এগুলো investigation, complaint ও prosecution-stage record; conviction নয়। BSS আরও জানায়, এক ব্যবসায়ী আজিজ ও অন্যদের বিরুদ্ধে extortion complaint করেছেন এবং আদালত CID-কে তদন্তের নির্দেশ দিয়েছে। Prothom Alo reporting-এ আজিজ যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের অভিযোগ অস্বীকার করেন।
